Restoring a lost blog and other blogging nightmares

If you have been thinking I have been out of action on my blog for a long while, you would be correct!
I'm the first to admit that I am not very techie but I was flummoxed a few months back when my blog wouldn't recognise me as the blog owner and allow me to post anything.
Well I am glad to say I have finally resolved the issue (albeit a bit of a band aid solution) but the result is I'M BACK and can bring you new content again.

So hold tight I'll post a new blog post with some recent creations later today!

How are you coping with this weather?

It is super hot at the moment in the part of the world where I live.
We have been experiencing hot, hot days for weeks now and so I decided to retreat to my craft room (which is air conditioned) on the weekend and make cards.

Ever since the start of the heatwave I had been craving a nice icy cold milkshake and well, it somehow manifested itself, in my latest card creation!
Not quite as thirst quenching as the real deal; but it certainly whet my appetite for card class this month.

I hope you like this quick but cute card with all it's frothy goodness!

This card features Stampin' Up!s Mixed Drinks stamp set, which I'm happy to order for you.
Remember during sale-a-bration, orders of more than $90, qualify for a free product from our
Sale-a-bration brochure.

Getting Inky This Long Weekend

With a hot, hot, hot, long weekend stretching out in front of me I headed to my craft room.
I tidied, organised, planned and then finally got inky.
Here is one of the resulting cards made with the Mixed Drinks stamp set.
I really enjoyed making this card, even if it did have me longing for a frothy strawberry milkshake!
I hope you will come back and visit my blog for more projects over the coming weeks.

It's never too early to start planning for Christmas

I cannot believe I haven't blogged for just over a year.

I knew it would take a while to settle in to my job so I backed off with my blogging. It would only be for a while, I told myself. So you can imagine how horrified I was when I opened my blog today to write a post and saw just how long it had been.

Well, that is a thing of the past, I resolve to blog much more often. I'm going to aim for once a week from now on.

Today, I want to talk to you about Christmas. If I have learnt one thing from how quickly the last year has gone, it is that the short 13 and a bit weeks from now to Christmas will go by in a blink.
And if I don't get organised now it will find me in a state of chaos.

So believe it or not I am going to start my Christmas gift list tonight right after I finish this post.

If truth be known, Ive had my head in the Christmas game for a while now but all the goodies in our new Christmas catalogue have given me the push I needed to get started on some projects.

I have quite a few Christmas card classes booked between now and Christmas so I've been making Christmas cards like there is no tomorrow.

When a friend called in with some delicious macarons on the weekend, I just had to make a Christmas tag so I could photograph and use that box of yumminess as a prop.
I knew it would look pretty delicious, (pun intended).

Usually the hard part for me is the photography, I'm not the world's best photographer!
But this time the hard part was keeping hubby away from the macarons long enough to shoot the photo.

Before I had even finished making the tag, the kettle was boiled and a cuppa made ready for the anticipated macaron.

So here it is:
I hope you enjoy this little Christmas sweet treat (the tag, not the cookies) as much as I enjoyed making it. Till next time...Happy Stamping! Donna x

Our new Christmas catalogue is around the corner

Only Four more sleeps to our new Holiday Mini Catalogue launches.

That means it's only a few more days till you can have your very own copy to drool over.

I have started playing with products that I bought on pre-order (that is a major perk of being a demonstrator, we get to buy products ahead of time) and I must say I am having a ball with some of the new stamp sets.

I usually don't have too much trouble picking a favourite stamp set but there are so many awesome sets to choose from that I can't quite pin it down to one set.

Right this minute, I am loving Sparkly Seasons. It features snow globes and is just so adorable.

I made this card using the Sparkly Seasons set for this week's Mojo Monday sketch.

I always love playing along with the Mojo Monday challenges but haven't had time to do so for a while. I'm going to make a regular date with my craft supplies so that I can do it more often.

I combined this stamp set with the cute 'doodled' border stamp from our Tin of Cards stamp set from our annual catalogue.
It is just so quirky, I love it and think it might make an appearance on quite a few projects in the near future.

If you want to get your hands on any of these products or your very own copy of the
2015 Holiday Mini Catalogue, don't hesitate to give me a call

Getting Inky

With mixed media all the rage at the moment, today I have been playing with Stampin' Up! products to see what effects I can accomplish.

On Pinterest I discovered a great post by Debbie Henderson of Debbie's Designs,  on her ink spreading technique it had me intrigued and I just had to give it a try.

I have been crafting for a long time and I have to say that messy, inky fingers has never been my favourite part of card making, so I was a little nervous; but I loved the look of this technique so much that I decided I had to have a go.

I began by dripping drops of reinker onto watercolour paper and then immediately spritzing it with some water.

The resulting "mess" made an eye-catching card base and it was so quick and easy. And the best part was it didn't even leave me or my workspace messy.

Once the card stock had completely dried. I added a hand drawn "doodled" border and then stamped on the bird and branch from the Choose Happiness Stamp set.

I stamped the bird again onto a scrap of cardstock and heat embossed it with black embossing powder, I then cut the bird out and mounted it over the one stamped on the card.

I stamped the banner onto Crumb Cake cardstock and cut it and mounted it onto the top left of the card.

To finish I stamped the "choose happiness" sentiment onto Blackberry Bliss card stock with Whisper White ink and then heat embossed with white embossing powder. I punched it out using the Artisan Label punch and mounted it to the banner with Dimensionals.

To give the card a little lift I added some black thread and coloured some rhinestones with our new Blendabilities markers. I assembled the stamped card front, onto some Island Indigo card stock and then a folded Blackberry Bliss Card.

I would like to think it's one hot mess that works!

                                                                   Choose Happiness

Don't hesitate to contact me if I can be of any help in ordering products for you to try this card at home!
